Four-pass editing checklist applied in sequence
Editing in passes (structure → flow → line → polish) catches issues in the right order. This prompt forces the model through all four explicitly.
Edit the following draft in four explicit passes. After each pass, output the revised text and a one-line note on what changed. Then apply the next pass to that output.
PASS 1 — Structure: Are sections in the right order? Cut/merge as needed.
PASS 2 — Flow: Do paragraphs and sentences connect? Add bridges or break long ones.
PASS 3 — Line: Word choice, weak verbs, redundancy, qualifiers ("just", "really", "very").
PASS 4 — Polish: Punctuation rhythm, last-line lift, headline alignment.

Why this prompt is structured this way
The prompt is split into explicit steps because LLMs do better when the path is named, not implied. Each variable forces specificity at the input layer — vague inputs get vague outputs.
Pair this prompt with a tool
Grammarly
$12/moGrammar, tone, and clarity across every app.
Grammarly remains the default for grammar + tone checking. The 'Grammarly Go' generative features are catching up but are not the main reason to subscribe.
Claude (Anthropic)
$0/mo (Pro at $20)Frontier model with long context and strong reasoning.
Claude (Opus / Sonnet / Haiku tiers) is the assistant favored by writers and engineers who care about reasoning quality and tone. 1M token context on Opus.
Jasper
$39/moEnterprise-grade marketing AI with brand-voice controls.
Jasper is built for marketing teams that need on-brand output at scale. Strong template library, decent brand-voice fine-tuning, plugs into Surfer for SEO.
Copy.ai
$49/moSales + marketing workflows you can chain together.
Copy.ai pivoted hard into 'workflows' — chainable prompts that combine research, drafting, and personalization. Better than Jasper for outbound sales sequences.
